  • The pre-emption of CSI and other shows for the NCAA basketball tournament and increased news coverage of the war in Iraq has cut into CBS's regularly scheduled ratings.

According to Marc Berman of Nielsen Media Watch, regular programming on CBS including Survivor: Amazon, CSI and Without A Trace was juggled for the basketball tournament, allowing NBC to win last Thursday's ratings with a significant 2.81 million viewer advantage. More information may be found here.

  • Columnist Lisa de Moraes of The Washington Post also noted that news show ratings had declined but the CBS pre-emptions continued to hurt its ratings. The Wednesday night airing of CSI brought in significantly lower ratings than usual. The basketball tournament ratings were the lowest in two years as well.

  • CSI's Robert David Hall (Dr. Robbins) was overheard by Cinescape correspondents Sue Schneider And Marcia Groff at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on March 9, 2003, saying that he found the "copying" of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation by CSI: Miami to be "the sincerest form of flattery".

"I’m happy that [CSI] was nominated for a third year in a row," Hall said within earshot of the reporters. "I am enjoying the success of the show." The full article is available here.

  • Amazon.com lists a 2004 CSI calendar as being in the works for sale later this year, according to Elyse's CSI Crime Scene Investigation Site, which also notes that The CSI Companion has been pushed up to a spring publication date.
