By Carolina December 1, 2005 - 8:03 AMThe latest episodes of CSI, Miami and New York have greatly pleased the online critics in the last couple of weeks. Here's what some of them have to say about the trio's performance during November sweeps.
- The last scene of "A Bullet Runs Through It, Part Two" impressed the folks of Fandom Talk so much they're sure the show is bound to go home with a few Emmy statuettes this year. You can find the entire recap here.
- The episode had an equal emotional effect on the people from MSN. They had this to say about Paul Guilfoyle's powerful performance:
"If you didn't tear up when Bell's wife hugged Brass and said, "I know it wasn't your fault," you're tougher than I am. Even though we learned that Brass had been disciplined in the past, Paul Guilfoyle is such a good actor that you want to forgive him anything. Here's hoping he'll be back on the job."
- And in case you missed it, a detailed recap of "A Bullet Runs Through It, Part Two" can be found at CBS.com.
- A week later, Tom Biro, from TV Squad, wondered if the episode "Dog Eat Dog" was designed to make people regret their Thanksgiving feast. Biro talks about this, Nick's mustache, the repercussions of the previous episode on Brass, and other oddities, in his review.
- MSN had the same reaction when it came to CSI's enthusiasm for showing stomach contents and partly eaten food. You can find a character-by-character review of "Dog Eat Dog" here.
- And of course, CBS's complete recap of the same episode can be found at the CSI official website.
- Jonathan Toomey, from TV Squad, had the chance to review the Miami episode that has all gamers up in an uproar, "Urban Hellraisers." He had this to say about it:
"Of course, I love video games just as much as the next guy, but you don't see me putting on bright-red overalls and jumping into green sewer pipes now do you? Despite the cheesy storyline, I loved this episode because it advanced the personal sub-plots of all the team members (except Horatio)."
You can read the rest of his review here.
- CBS.com also provided a detailed recap of the entire episode.
- Toomey returned a week later to review the episode "Shattered." The personal storyline of Eric Delko prompted Toomey to gave the episode high praise.
"This was one of those episodes where you watch it and you enjoy it, but it just didn't seem that great. Then when you think about it, a ton of stuff happened. At this point, now in it's fourth season (and I know people are going to disagree with me), but I really think that CSI: Miami is starting to clearly distinguish itself as the best of the three CSIs."
You can also enter a discussion on whether Delko should've still be punished for buying an illegal drug over at TV Squad.
- And to learn more about everything that happened in this episode, head over to CBS.com to read their recap.
- NancyGail, from BlogCritics.com, noted something interesting about the Danny Messer/Lindsay Monroe dynamic in the New York episode "Bad Beat."
"These two are more alike than they realize. Danny is fairly street smart, and has special knowledge of the work which gives him a living. Not only is he from a family of cops, he understands how criminals think. He's hiding something, as evidenced from last season's episode "Youngblood". A gang leader knew something about Danny Messer. Nothing has come out yet, but keep your ears and eyes open. Lindsay has seen some hard-to-handle stuff in her line of work, but one case sticks out. She once told Danny, "it's a lot worse" than the typical case."
You can read her recap here.
- You can also read an episode summary over at CBS.com.
- Jonathan Toomey got over his fear of dolls for once night to provide a recap of "City of the Dolls." You can read his review over at TV Squad.
- But if you're looking for more detail, head over to the official CSI: New York website to read the full recap.
- And of course, make sure you check out our own Kristine Huntley's reviews of "A Bullet Runs Through It," parts one and two, "Dog Eat Dog," "Urban Hellraisers," "Shattered," "Bad Beat," and "City Of The Dolls."
