CBS To Air Six 'CSI' Episodes Next Week

By Christian
May 1, 2005 - 6:57 AM

Next week will be the first full week of the May sweeps, meaning new episodes will air of all three CSI shows. CBS recently issued official press releases for these episodes.

First up on Monday at 10:00pm is CSI: Miami's "Recoil," which the network described as follows:

After a bitter custody battle, shots are fired outside the courthouse and the CSIs must find the shooter. Bullets fly and the target is the little girl's mother. Horatio goes after the father, who he suspects may not be the girl's biological father after all. However, when the mother's shady past is uncovered, the team finds that she has a lot of enemies who would like to take a shot at her. Meanwhile, Calleigh's father returns to the crime lab for her guidance but for an unexpected reason

Joe Chappelle directed "Recoil," his first Miami episode this season. He did helm last week's CSI: New York, "Supply And Demand," as well as the Miami second-season finale, "Innocent." The episode was written by Steven Maeda, presumably making this his last episode before his departure to Lost (story), and Marc Dube, who this season also worked on "Under The Influence," "Speed Kills," "After The Fall" and "Nothing To Lose."

The following actors will be making a guest appearance in "Recoil:"

  • Tracey Needham as Cheri Lyle
  • Brian Tahash as Don Landis
  • Bill Sage as Brad Manning
  • Rex Linn as Det. Frank Tripp
  • Liana Liberato as Amy Manning
  • Natalia Baldwin Leon as Female Newscaster
  • David Gianopoulos as Vincent Lesca
  • Paul Green as Greg Rondinelli
  • Kimiko Gelman as Dr. Nicole Talcott
  • McKinley Freeman as MDPD Uniform
  • Michelle Ann Johnson as Valerie Adams
  • Brian Poth as Tyler Jenson
  • John Heard as Kenwall 'Duke' Duquesne

Both Linn and Poth have very frequent recurring roles on CSI: Miami, while John Heard has also appeared on the show several times before. This will be the second appearance by Natalia Baldwin Leon, whose character has apparently gotten a promotion - in the second-season episode "Money For Nothing" she was still just a reporter rather than a newscaster.

Four of the other actors have appeared on CSI before, three of them on the original show: Tracey Needham was Jessica Abernathy in the fourth season's "Bad Words," Bill Sage played Frank McBride in the second-season episode "The Hunger Artist," and and Michelle Ann Johnson appeared as Pamela Adler way back in the first season's "Too Tough To Die." Brian Tahash, meanwhile, had a memorable role in CSI: New York's "Blood, Sweat and Tears" as the Clown Judge.

On Wednesday, CBS will be showing CSI: New York's "On The Job." This is what you can expect from the episode:

While processing a crime scene, Danny is suddenly attacked by a suspect hiding in the victim's closet. The ensuing chase leads them to a crowded New York subway where the suspect, an undercover cop and Danny all fire shots. When the smoke clears, the team is left with a dead cop, a missing suspect and Danny under investigation for the possible murder of the officer. Mac must prove who killed the cop in order to save Danny's job. Meanwhile, Stella investigates the death of a nanny killed in a Central Park restroom.

Director David Von Ancken is new to the CSI franchise. He's previously worked on several other crime shows, including Without A Trace, Cold Case, The Jury and Numb3rs. The episode's screenwriter, Timothy J. Lea, this season also penned "Outside Man" and "ReCycling."

Below is a list of "On The Job" guest stars:

  • Joe Morton as Chief Dwight Hillborne
  • Chad Lindberg as Chad Willingham
  • Alanna Ubach as Constance Briell
  • Nick Damici as Det. Patrick Colton
  • Kimberly Dooley as Glenda Wallace
  • Noureen DeWulf as Matrice Singh
  • Octavia Spencer as Child Welfare Rep
  • Maurice Compte as Michael Armstrong
  • Gilbert Rosales as Det. Rodney Minhas
  • Chris Tardio as Steve Dark
  • Adina Porter as Shannon Goodall
  • Alison Raimondi as Nurse
  • James Lancaster as Butler
  • Valeri Ross as Attorney
  • Sean Jeffrey Jones as Uniformed Officer
  • Patricia Martinez as Sandra Lopez
  • Kamala Mathis as Fire Breathing Woman

Both Chad Lindberg and Alanna Ubach are playing previously established NY characters. Although Nick Damici has never appeared on CSI: New York before, he did play a detective in "MIA/NYC Nonstop" - likely the same character he's playing in this episode. Maurice Compte also previously appeared on CSI: Miami, playing Guillermo Soriano in the first-season episode "Body Count."

On Thursday, the final new episode of the week will be airing - the original CSI's "Weeping Willows." CBS described the episode as follows:

After a tough day on the job, Catherine heads to a bar to unwind and has a brief romantic encounter with a stranger, Adam Novak. When a woman from the same bar turns up dead later that night, evidence points to Novak as the lead suspect in the murder investigation. Friction arises between Grissom and Catherine when she fails to disclose her knowledge of the suspect. Meanwhile, Mia deals with cross contamination of evidence in the DNA lab.

Director Ken Fink is a CSI veteran, having this year already worked on "What's Eating Gilbert Grissom?," "Who Shot Sherlock?" and "Spark Of Life." This is the first episode written by Areanne Lloyd, who has worked on the show for the past several years as Script Coordinator.

The following actors will be guest-starring on "Weeping Willows:"

  • David Berman as David Phillips
  • Wallace Langham as Hodges
  • Aisha Tyler as Mia Dickerson
  • Marc Vann as Conrad Ecklie
  • Larry Sullivan as Officer Akers
  • Geoffrey Rivas as Det. Vega
  • Alex Carter as Det. Vartann
  • Alan Rosenberg as Adam Novak
  • Lauren Bowles as Ellen
  • Anita Gillette as Lily Flynn
  • Mary Kelsey as Alice Granger
  • Madison McReynolds as Lindsey
  • Channon Roe as Douglas Granger
  • Shawn Hatosy as Jeff Simon
  • Elaine Curtis as Holly Pearson
  • Lelah Foster as Sheila
  • Lauren Birkell as Lynn
  • Meredith Scott Lynn as Carol Allred

As usual for the original CSI, many of these actors are playing long-established recurring charactes, including Berman, Langham, Tyler, Vann, Sullivan, Rivas, Carter and McReynolds. Meredith Scott Lynn joins their ranks as of this episode, after first appearing as Carol Allred in "Unbearable" earlier this eason. Only Channon Roe has worked on any of the CSI shows before, playing Brad Repkin in one of the first CSI: Miami episodes, "Broken." Alan Rosenberg didn't appear on any of the CSIs before, but he is the real-life husband of Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows).

In addition to the above three new episodes, CBS will be airing no less than three special CSI reruns next week. First up on Friday at 9:00pm is CSI: Miami's "Money Plane," in which someone uses a laser light to blind a pilot and bring down a jet, which carries more than $1.2 billion in checks to be delivered to banks on the eastern seaboard. The crime scene evidence reveals a victim -- a young fundraising socialite -- who was inside the plane but killed prior to the crash. Now, although the team has little to work with since the victim's wealthy family is opposing an autopsy, Horatio must follow the money trail. Meanwhile, Calleigh works on a case with her ex-boyfriend, Det. Hagen, and their romantic history could cause problems for both of them.

On Saturday at 8:00pm, the fourth-season original CSI finale "Bloodlines" will be shown. In this episode, after a rape victim identifies her rapist, Grissom and his team struggle to find the physical evidence to convict the perpetrator when it points in a different direction. The female victim, who barely escapes death, identifies her rapist but the DNA evidence suggests that he is not the person responsible. Meanwhile, Grissom comes to the rescue of one of the CSI members who lands on the other side of the law.

Finally, on Saturday at 9:00pm CBS will be repeating CSI: New York's "The Dove Commission." When the chief investigator of a controversial report documenting corruption within the NYPD is gunned down the day before his findings are published, Mac and Stella must find the killer. The Dove Commission is an independent group formed of judges and attorneys with one purpose: to expose the weaknesses of the NYPD. While the group celebrates their findings at a posh New York City bar located in a Manhattan high rise, the head of the commission is shot and killed, launching a massive search that makes every officer listed in the report a suspect. Meanwhile, Danny and Aiden investigate the murder of a gypsy cab driver.
