As CSI Files previously reported, rock band The Who performed at the Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show this past Sunday, February 7. The band is responsible for all three CSI theme songs: “Who Are You” for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami‘s “Won’t Get Fooled Again” and “Baba O’Riley” for CSI: New York—all of which were included in the 12-minute medley of songs during the halftime show. Guitarist Pete Townshend said bandmate Roger Daltrey and Townshend’s brother Simon (who plays guitar for the band on tour) came up with the idea for the medley.

“I thought we’d just do the CSI songs,” Townshend said. “My pitch was just to do three regular-length songs. We could fall back on what was very familiar. But Roger felt he needed something that gave him more narrative scope, as he described it. He and Simon and one of the lieutenants in the crew put together a track and surprisingly I thought it worked really well. Roger and I have a great relationship these days; it’s very warm and close. So I trusted him to do that job.”

CSI Files previously reported that legendary rock band The Who would be performing at the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show this coming Sunday, February 7. The performance will include all three CSI theme songs (“Who Are You”, “Won’t Get Fooled Again” and “Baba O’Riley”) as part of a 12-minute set. All of the songs the band performs during the Halftime Show are from the upcoming album called The Who Greatest Hits. A full track list for the album is available at Addict Music.

CSI Files previously reported that legendary band The Who would perform during the halftime show on February 7, when the New Orleans Saints play the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV. Guitarist Pete Townshend has revealed the set list for the concert, which will feature a medley of the band’s music that includes all three CSI theme songs.

“We’re kinda doing a mashup of stuff,” Townshend told Billboard. “A bit of ‘Baba O’Riley,’ a bit of ‘Pinball Wizard,’ a bit of the close of ‘Tommy,’ a bit of ‘Who Are You,’ and a bit of ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again.’ It works—it’s quite a saga,” he continued. “A lot of the stuff that we do has that kind of celebratory vibe about it—we’ve always tried to make music that allows the audience to go a bit wild if they want to. Hopefully it will hit the spot.”

Fans of the CSI franchise hear songs by The Who every time they watch an episode because all three theme songs (“Who Are You”, “Won’t Get Fooled Again” and “Baba O’Riley”) are performed by the band. Singer Roger Daltrey even made a guest appearance in the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode “Living Legend” during the show’s seventh season. However, Daltrey admitted that he’s not exactly familiar with the franchise. “I’ve never seen it,” he said, laughing. “I’ve seen bits of it, but never a whole one. And I’ve been on it as an actor, but I’ve never seen it. It’s not any disrespect to that show, and they’ve been incredibly loyal to me and The Who, but I just don’t watch TV.”

The Who, which is the band responsible for all three CSI theme songs (“Who Are You”, “Won’t Get Fooled Again” and “Baba O’Riley”), will perform at the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show on February 7, 2010.
