Lombard To Guest Star On ‘Miami Medical’

Former CSI: Crime Scene Investigation actress Louise Lombard (Sofia Curtis) has signed on to do a guest-starring role in Jerry Bruckheimer’s first medical drama, Miami Medical. The series premieres on Friday, April 2 at 10:00pm ET/PT, and Lombard’s episode is scheduled to air in late April.

Manning Joins ‘Hawaii Five-O’ Remake

CSI Files previously reported that CSI: New York executive producer Peter Lenkov was working on a remake of the classic series Hawaii Five-O for CBS. Alex O’Loughlin (Moonlight) and Daniel Dae Kim (Lost) have already been confirmed as the actors portraying Detective Steve McGarrett and Detective Chin Ho Kelly. Actress Taryn Manning is the latest addition to the cast. She will play McGarrett’s younger sister Mary Ann. Manning’s filmography is available on IMDb.com.

O’Loughlin Confirmed For ‘Hawaii Five-O’

CSI Files previously reported that former Moonlight and Three Rivers star Alex O’Loughlin was being considered for the lead role in the upcoming CBS remake of the classic series Hawaii Five-O. It has now been confirmed that O’Loughlin will play Detective Steve McGarrett in the reboot, which features CSI: New York showrunner Peter Lenkov and Star Trek writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci as executive producers. O’Loughlin is the second actor to be cast—Lost’s Daniel Dae Kim will portray one of McGarrett’s sidekicks, Detective Chin Ho Kelly.

CSI Files previously reported that CSI: New York executive producer Peter Lenkov was working on a reboot of the classic CBS series Hawaii Five-O. There was a rumour that Moonlight and Three Rivers star Alex O’Loughlin was being considered for the show’s leading role, but there has been no word on that particular casting choice. However, CBS has revealed who will play sidekick Detective Chin Ho Kelly in the new series: Lost actor Daniel Dae Kim. Kim is the first core actor from the ABC drama to sign on for a new show in anticipation of Lost’s upcoming series finale.

CBS Greenlights ‘Hawaii Five-O’, Considers O’Loughlin

Last year, CSI: New York executive producer Peter Lenkov worked with Star Trek writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to get a pilot commitment for a remake of the classic series Hawaii Five-O that ran on CBS from 1968 to 1980. The team has now been given the green light to produce a pilot for the series. Lenkov penned the pilot script based on a story co-written by Kurtzman and Orci. The updated police drama will feature all three men as executive producers.

There is no word yet on casting, although Entertainment Weekly’s Ausiello reports that the network may be considering Alex O’Loughlin for the show’s leading role. If the deal goes through, Five-O will be the actor’s third series for CBS. O’Loughlin originally appeared as vampire private investigator Mick St John in Moonlight. After it was cancelled, the actor moved on to star in the now-defunct medical drama Three Rivers.

Zuiker Pitches ‘Jax And Amber’

CSI Files previously reported that CSI creator Anthony Zuiker was working on a scripted series for CBS called Cyber Crimes, which will be about a fictional government agency that sets out to bring technological offenders to justice. Thanks to his first-look deal with the network, Zuiker is also planning another new series called Jax and Amber. CBS has given a script order for the series, which will be based around two female detectives with a unique insight into solving crimes. CSI franchise veteran Elizabeth Devine will write for the show, and she will serve as executive producer along with Zuiker and Deran Sarafian. If Jax and Amber goes to pilot, Sarafian will be the show’s director.

Zuiker Investigates ‘Cyber Crimes’

CSI creator Anthony Zuiker has been given a script plus penalty commitment by CBS for a new scripted series called Cyber Crimes. The project is the first for Zuiker’s production company, Dare to Pass. Cyber Crimes will chronicle a fictional government agency that sets out to solve internet- and technology-based offenses. Zuiker created the project and will serve as executive producer for the series.

CBS Orders More ‘CSI’ Episodes

CBS has ordered additional episodes of all three members of the CSI franchise. This brings CSI: Miami up to 24 episodes, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: New York now have 23 planned episodes at this point. This news comes as the network announces that they are lowering the season order for Friday night series Numb3rs from 22 to 16 episodes. There is a rumour that Flashpoint will take the 10:00pm timeslot on Fridays starting in February, but this has not been confirmed.

‘New York’ Lead-In ‘Criminal Minds’ Gets Spin-Off

In the vein of fellow CBS programmes CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and NCIS, it has been reported that CSI: New York lead-in Criminal Minds will get a spin-off. The series about the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) debuted in 2005. The spin-off, which will start as a backdoor pilot during a spring episode of Criminal Minds, is expected to feature a new set of FBI agents rather than existing characters. Ausiello reports that CBS may be looking for a woman to headline the show.

The series, which has not yet been named, will be created by Criminal Minds executive producers Ed Bernero and Chris Mundy, and Mundy will write the script.
