‘Grave Danger’ Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Hits Stores This Tuesday

As CSI Files reported back in November, the two-part finale of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’s fifth season, “Grave Danger”, is being released in a two-disc Blue-ray/DVD combo pack. Quentin Tarantino directed the feature-length story, which will be available in the new format this Tuesday, February 7. You can order it from Amazon or other online retailers.

CBS To Release ‘Grave Danger’ On Blu-ray/DVD Combo Set

The season five finale of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, “Grave Danger”, will be released in a Blu-ray/DVD combo package on February 7:

Director Quentin Tarantino brings his edgy, pulse-pounding style of filmmaking to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in this gripping, feature-length offering from the acclaimed, top-rated crime-drama series. … “To this date, ‘Grave Danger’ goes down in history as one of the greatest CSIs ever filmed…It quite simply is a masterpiece” (Anthony Zuiker, Creator of CSI).

“Grave Danger” was aired as a two-part finale back in 2005, and it has an 85-minute run time. The combo set will include the Blu-ray and DVD versions of the episode, as well as a special featurette called “Tarantino Style”. This set will only be available in the USA.

Ubisoft Unveils Plans For ‘Miami’-Based Facebook Game

One year ago, a Facebook game based on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation went live. CSI: Crime City currently has 1.1 million monthly users, and developer Ubisoft will release a new social game for fans of CSI: Miami in early 2012:

CSI: Miami features Horatio Caine and will see players work together to uncover evidence, interrogate suspects, build out their high-tech labs and discover the truth about Miami’s most challenging crimes.

A CSI: New York game is expected later in 2012.

CBS Develops New ‘CSI’ Games

CBS Consumer Products is working with GDC-GameDevCo Ltd and IGT to develop all-new board games, playing cards and slot machines based on the CSI franchise. GDC-GameDevCo will create the board games and playing cards for distribution in the United States and Canada, and the slot machines created by IGT will be available worldwide. “The CSI brand introduces so many interesting layers to incorporate into a licensing program,” Liz Kalodner, Executive Vice President and General Manager of CBS Consumer Products, said in a press release. “Whether it’s the mystery, crime or science element, each can be adapted into a variety of compelling products.”

CSI Files previously reported that CBS Consumer Products made a deal to create die-cast vehicles for all three CSI series. GreenLight is producing the 1:64 scale replicas, and the first series of the GL Hollywood collection will include six cars. CSI: Miami is the only member of the franchise represented in Series 1, and you can see a picture of the 2008 Dodge Charger next to the other cars in the series on the official GreenLight Collectibles website here (bottom row, far right). GreenLight also posted a close-up on Facebook, which you can see here (second row on the left).

The 1:64 GL Hollywood Series 1 collection is scheduled for release in July.

CBS Plans ‘CSI’ Book Series For Tweens

CBS Consumer Products has unveiled plans to publish a series of chapter books based on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which will be geared toward pre-teen readers. The novels from Simon Spotlight (a children’s imprint of Simon & Schuster) will explore forensic science, and they will take place in a middle school setting. The first book, Mystery Meatloaf by David Lewman, is scheduled for a January 2012 publishing date.
