The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation is currently holding eBay auctions featuring items and experiences for fans of various television programmes. One of the items up for bid is a lab coat signed by the cast of CSI: New York, including Gary Sinise (Mac Taylor), Sela Ward (Jo Danville), Anna Belknap (Lindsay Messer), Carmine Giovinazzo (Danny Messer), Hill Harper (Dr Sheldon Hawkes), Eddie Cahill (Don Flack), AJ Buckley (Adam Ross) and Robert Joy (Dr Sid Hammerback). The auction runs through November 18, and all proceeds will go to the Emmys Foundation.

CSI: New York’s resident coroner Robert Joy (Dr Sid Hammerback) celebrates his birthday today, August 17. The actor was born on this day in 1951.

CSI Files previously reported that Robert Joy (CSI: New York’s Dr Sid Hammerback) would be starring in The Tempest later this month at Theatre by the Bay in Barrie, Ontario. “The idea of doing a play with Ruby, my daughter, was totally irresistible,” the actor told the Barrie Examiner. “But it would have been irresistible anyway—to be offered Prospero in The Tempest—which is one of the greatest roles of all time.”

“The Tempest is one of those plays that combines drama and comedy,” Joy continued. “In the old-fashioned sense it’s definitely a comedy, because after going through all the trouble in the play you come out on top rather than, like Hamlet, dead on the floor. One of the reasons it’s considered one of the best plays is it hits so many different notes, of drama and comedy and magic and betrayal and slapstick.” He added, “It’s like the whole gamut in one play.”
