CSI Files previously reported that TOKYOPOP released a graphic novel called CSI: Intern At Your Own Risk. The story, which is set in the world of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, follows CSI intern Kiyomi Hudson as she and several other interns try to solve the murder of a peer. “Critically, the manga has been received well,” TOKYOPOP’s Associate Publisher Marco Pavia said of the release.

“[W]e also created a cool digital product, more like a movie trailer, that has been getting a ton of buzz, especially with our Japanese licensing partners,” Pavia added. “Sales have been slow, to be honest, but it just came out a few months ago. I know we want instant gratification, and I’m patient to see it find its audience before planning another volume.”

You can find the “trailer” for CSI: Intern At Your Own Risk after the jump. (Warning: contains some graphic images):

The latest book tie-in for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is a departure from the traditional novel. CSI: An Interactive Mystery features a murder case, but it also includes elements that give the reader a hands-on experience as they put the pieces together. Details after the jump!

Interactive Mystery allows the reader to follow along with Gil Grissom (William Petersen) and the rest of the CSI team as they investigate a crime scene and solve the riddle of how the latest victim was killed:

In the tradition of The Crimes of Dr Watson and Dracula’s Heir, this book features an original mystery novella along with eight removable clues for the reader to study. As our story opens, famed real estate developer Mel Bledsoe is found murdered in his ultra-tacky Las Vegas McMansion. A state-of-the-art home security system offers images of the murder and its aftermath—but not nearly enough to identify whodunit.

Readers will have to study all the evidence recovered at the crime scene (including a blood-spattered booklet, a shredded document, architectural blueprints, and more) to discover the killer.

Can you read the story, study the clues, and solve the crime?

CSI: An Interactive Mystery is now available and can be purchased from Amazon and other online retailers.

Stuart M Kaminsky, who may be familiar to fans of CSI: New York as the author of three tie-in novels (Dead of Winter, Blood on the Sun and Deluge), died last Friday, October 9. The 75-year-old author passed away due to complications from hepatitis and a stroke he suffered recently.

Kaminsky contracted hepatitis while serving as an army medic in France in the 1950s. He and his wife, Enid, moved to St Louis, Missouri to await a liver transplant in March; however, the author suffered a stroke two days after their arrival, which made him ineligible for the transplant.

Kaminsky is survived by his wife, his daughters Natasha and Lucy, his sons Peter and Toby, and three grandchildren.

CSI: New York star Gary Sinise will attend the first 9/11 Day of Service in New York City on September 11.

Eva La Rue (Natalia Boa Vista) and Adam Rodriguez (Eric Delko) have been nominated for American Latino Media Arts Awards (ALMA) for their positive portrayals of Latino characters on CSI: Miami. (Source)

Rodriguez and Sofia Milos (Miami‘s Yelina Salas) have been confirmed as Celebrity Navigators for the Rally for Kids with Cancer Scavenger Cup in Toronto, Canada on September 25 and 26. The event will increase awareness and raise money to help children who are battling cancer.

“Life as a real life CSI isn’t as glamorous as it looks on TV,” Vivienne Mee, an expert in computer forensics in Ireland, told The Argus. Mee finds her job “hugely enjoyable”, but she said it isn’t the same as it might appear on the CSI series. “I do watch those shows, and I have to laugh sometimes at how quickly they get results, it’s certainly not like that in reality,” she said.

“CSI: The Experience” will open at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 12. (Source: Glam.com)

Eddie Cibrian (Jesse Cardoza) will join the cast of Miami starting in the season eight premiere. The actor recently separated from his wife, Brandi Glanville, citing irreconcilable differences. Cibrian issued a statement on Thursday saying that he wants to keep the matter private and that he will remain committed to raising his two sons, Mason and Jake. “While my wife and I are dissolving our marriage, we will work together to parent our two children,” he said. “I love my boys very much. I want only the best for them and am committed to being a devoted father.”

IDW will release an omnibus edition of the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation comic book tie-in this fall. The CSI Omnibus Vol. 1 includes CSI: Serial, CSI: Bad Rap and CSI: Demon House.
SouthPeak Games will release a game exclusively for the Nintendo DS this holiday season called Crime Scene. Although it is not associated with the franchise, the game may appeal to CSI fans. “Whether you are a fan of police dramas on TV, classic detective fiction, or just tricky puzzles, Crime Scene allows players to take part in their own tense, high stakes investigation and get involved in forensic work.” explained SouthPeak’s VP of Marketing Richard Iggo.
