David Hodges joined the rest of the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation team at a bowling alley at the end of “Lover’s Lanes” last month, and the man behind the character, Wallace Langham, is no stranger to the game.

Langham was recently in his home town of Forth Worth, Texas to help re-launch the Fort Worth Science and History Museum. One exhibit at the museum is “CSI: The Experience”. Langham knows all about the CSI experience after portraying Hodges in more than 120 episodes—and when it came time to film the bowling scenes for “Lover’s Lanes”, he was no novice. “Bowling has always been sort of my secret sport,” he revealed. “It’s one thing I can do not too badly. . . . One of the pros on that episode said he could work with me, and in three months I’d have a 180 game.”

Bowling may not be a new thing for Langham, but it was something unexpected for the forensic drama. “It came as a kind of surprise to me,” Langham added. “All of a sudden the CSI team is bowling. What! The team has never bowled before.”

Langham has been bowling since he was young. He also knew what he wanted to do from an early age. “I was a latchkey kid who would come home from school and watch TV all day,” he said. “Eventually, I said: ‘I think I want to be on that.’” When he wasn’t watching television and planning his future career, Langham liked to surf and hang out “at this great old bowling alley in Hollywood around the corner from my house.”

While acting has been Langham’s dream for many years, he’s not exactly a well-known name. “‘Oh, that guy!’ I really enjoy that reaction,” he said. “I love being in the middle. I’m not the person who is being mobbed every 10 feet as they walk down the street, but I’m also not the person who has to say, ‘Hey, look at me, look at me, look at me.’”

The actor was originally only signed on for a few episodes of CSI, but Hodges is still around more than six years later. “I’ve been lucky enough to fall into those roles that can be memorable,” Langham explained. Another of his memorable roles was as Josh Blair, Kirstie Alley’s gay assistant on Veronica’s Closet from 1997 to 2000. “First it was Ellen DeGeneres saying she’s coming out. Then it was our show. Then right after that, Will & Grace came on,” Langham said. “Nowadays, if you don’t have a gay character on your show, you’ve got a problem. That’s a testament to how our culture is changing. Back then, it felt like an honor to be entrusted with something that is very personal to a lot of people.”

Langham was also honored to be asked back to Fort Worth to help re-launch the museum. The city, like the man, has changed a lot since he moved to Los Angeles with his mother at the age of nine. “It’s staggering, really,” he said. “I never would have dreamed when I was nine years old that I’d be able to come back to my hometown and be a part of one of the biggest TV shows in history and to be a part of their science museum. It’s pretty wild.”

The cast of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation was on hand for the “CSI: The Experience” ribbon-cutting ceremony at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 12.

“CSI: The Experience” started out as a travelling museum exhibit. The installation at the MGM Grand marks the first time the exhibit has found a permanent home. It is fitting that the attraction would be featured in the city that provides the setting for CSI.

“When I shot the pilot, I would have never guessed it would get this much attention and that there would be a museum exhibit that traveled the world,” CSI actress Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) said. “But the thing I am most proud of about the show is the impact it has had on kids. It is very educational. Kids want a career in this.”

“CSI: The Experience” was customized for Las Vegas, and the goal is to keep the attraction in place for five years. Because of the target audience, “CSI: The Experience” provides content that is more family-friendly than the real thing. “[T]he exhibit is much more sanitized than an actual crime scene,” Helgenberger said. “There are a lot of kids here so you are going to have less blood and gore.”

CSI: New York star Gary Sinise will attend the first 9/11 Day of Service in New York City on September 11.

Eva La Rue (Natalia Boa Vista) and Adam Rodriguez (Eric Delko) have been nominated for American Latino Media Arts Awards (ALMA) for their positive portrayals of Latino characters on CSI: Miami. (Source)

Rodriguez and Sofia Milos (Miami’s Yelina Salas) have been confirmed as Celebrity Navigators for the Rally for Kids with Cancer Scavenger Cup in Toronto, Canada on September 25 and 26. The event will increase awareness and raise money to help children who are battling cancer.

“Life as a real life CSI isn’t as glamorous as it looks on TV,” Vivienne Mee, an expert in computer forensics in Ireland, told The Argus. Mee finds her job “hugely enjoyable”, but she said it isn’t the same as it might appear on the CSI series. “I do watch those shows, and I have to laugh sometimes at how quickly they get results, it’s certainly not like that in reality,” she said.

“CSI: The Experience” will open at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 12. (Source: Glam.com)

Eddie Cibrian (Jesse Cardoza) will join the cast of Miami starting in the season eight premiere. The actor recently separated from his wife, Brandi Glanville, citing irreconcilable differences. Cibrian issued a statement on Thursday saying that he wants to keep the matter private and that he will remain committed to raising his two sons, Mason and Jake. “While my wife and I are dissolving our marriage, we will work together to parent our two children,” he said. “I love my boys very much. I want only the best for them and am committed to being a devoted father.”

IDW will release an omnibus edition of the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation comic book tie-in this fall. The CSI Omnibus Vol. 1 includes CSI: Serial, CSI: Bad Rap and CSI: Demon House. (Source)

SouthPeak Games will release a game exclusively for the Nintendo DS this holiday season called Crime Scene. Although it is not associated with the franchise, the game may appeal to CSI fans. “Whether you are a fan of police dramas on TV, classic detective fiction, or just tricky puzzles, Crime Scene allows players to take part in their own tense, high stakes investigation and get involved in forensic work.” explained SouthPeak’s VP of Marketing Richard Iggo. You can find a list of game features at the official website here.
