We’re delighted to announce that CSI Files is now on a new server. Talk CSI has been successfully hosted there for a couple of weeks, and now CSI Files joins it. You should have a faster experience, with more reliability.

CSI Files will be on the CSI: New York set tomorrow, December 6, for an episode set to air in February, 2012 and we’d like to answer your questions during the visit!

Gary Sinise (Mac Taylor), Sela Ward (Jo Danville), Carmine Giovinazzo (Danny Messer), Anna Belknap (Lindsay Monroe-Messer), Eddie Cahill (Don Flack), and Hill Harper (Dr Sheldon Hawkes) will be present during the visit and will be available to speak with CSI Files’ Shane Saunders. Executive Producers Pam Veasey and Zachary Reiter will also take time out of their busy schedules to answer burning questions.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation star Elisabeth Harnois (Morgan Brody) will be participating in a live chat with CSI Files visitors on Wednesday the 19th of October, at 9:00pm Eastern Time (6:00pm Pacific Time).

Detroit, Michigan-born Elisabeth Harnois has appeared on shows such as Without A Trace, Miami Medical, and Cold Case.  Before becoming a series regular for the twelfth season of CSI, Harnois voiced one of the roles in this year’s film Mars Needs Moms.

Ms. Harnois has graciously agreed to participate in a CSI Files live chat to answer fan questions about the Morgan-focused episode “CSI Down,” her character, and everything else you might want to know! The chat will be taking place this Wednesday in our special chat room, which can be reached through both a web interface and an IRC client. For most of the time, the chat will be moderated, meaning that only messages typed by Harnois herself and CSI Files moderators Rachel Trongo and Shane Saunders will appear, but you will be able to ask questions by sending them to these moderators.

If you’re unable to attend the chat, you can already send us questions in advance. In order to do so, head over to this thread in the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation forum of Talk CSI. We will make a selection from these questions and ask the best ones to Ms. Harnois herself! So head over to our forums and post your questions — you will need to have a Talk CSI user account, but if you haven’t yet got one, now would be the perfect time to register! A full transcript of the questions and answers will be posted on CSI Files shortly after the chat.

This will be the sixth CSI Files chat. Previous chats include CSI: New York stars Carmine Giovinazzo (Danny Messer), Hill Harper (Dr Sheldon Hawkes), and Eddie Cahill (Detective Don Flack). Miami star Jonathan Togo (Ryan Wolfe) has also participated with the site.

Be sure to note down the time and join us this Wednesday at 9:00pm ET (6:00pm PT) to chat with Elisabeth Harnois in our chat room. Please note that the scheduling of this chat is tentative, and may still change depending on the CSI shooting schedule. After seven wonderful years of reviewing for CSI Files, time constraints are forcing me to step down as the reviewer for the site. I’ve had a fantastic time analyzing and discussing the three CSI shows, and I can’t tell you how much I’ve appreciated the comments and discussion I’ve gotten from the members here.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our site owner, Christian Sparborth, for the opportunity to be a part of the writing team at CSI Files. I’m also grateful to the people who work on the CSI franchise, both in front of and behind the camera, who have been so supportive of this site and giving of their time for interviews. And last but certainly not least, big thanks to all of our members and readers who have made reviewing and interviewing for the site an interactive process!

New ways to find what you want
One of the biggest changes you’ll see is that there are now many ways to find the news you want:

• Firstly you can browse by category or by date by clicking a link on the left hand side.
• News items are also tagged. You can click a tag within a news item, or in the Tag Cloud on the right hand side, and find similar news. For example if you want to see all news relating to Adam Rodriguez you can just click Rodriguez.
• Finally there’s also now a search engine, on the right above the tag cloud.

We have only got the last couple of week’s news in the new system at the moment, which means content is currently a bit sparse. The system will build over time, and we hope to import the old news into the system at a later date. For now all news is the old system still accessible here.

News more often

Due to the new system, expect more frequent news updates as smaller news items get their own articles rather than being grouped together. This means you get news faster.

Coming later are many improvements. The biggest change is that soon you will be able to leave comments for any news item. Rather than having a separate discussion area for each news item at Talk CSI, comments will be part of the article. You’ll be able to login with your Talk CSI membership, or other logins such as Facebook.

For now, please bear with us as we start to populate the new system with news and get the features up and running. There are many rough edges right now which we’ll also be improving, so excuse any glitches.
