Take A Peek At Tonight’s ‘NCIS’ & ‘NCIS:NOLA’

5 min read

NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans offer Thanksgiving-themed episodes tonight, and you can find sneak peeks, interviews, tweets, photos and videos after the jump!

Here’s the first of two sneak peeks from the NCIS episode “Grounded”, featuring Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham), Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), Bishop’s husband Jake (Jamie Bamber) and Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon). (It’s also available on CBS.com, CBS Press Express and SpoilerTV.)

This second clip features Bishop, Jake, and Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly). (You can also find it on CBS.com, CBS Press Express and SpoilerTV.)

Wickersham spoke to TV Guide about the episode, including the introduction of her character’s husband. Here’s an excerpt:

This is kind of his first taste of her at NCIS. It exposes a very different side of Bishop. … Jake is still at NSA and Bishop is no longer there, obviously. So, the dynamic in their relationship has really changed. They went from being able to talk about everything that happens in their work life to having it be really one-sided, because Jake can’t discuss anything, obviously, outside of the NSA. So that throws a huge curveball into a relationship, I think.

Wickersham also spoke to TV Line, and you can read a quote below:

TVLINE | What assistance is Jake able to offer, as an NSA attorney?

Well, he doesn’t really know what he has gotten himself into at first. He kind of lets Ellie take the lead and is in a lot of ways is in awe of her. He’d seen her do her thing when they worked together at the NSA, but he hasn’t really seen her in action at NCIS, so this is the first moment that he sees what she does every day. But Jake actually helps out with his NSA skills, which is pretty cool. What was interesting to play, and was an interesting thing to read on the page, is that there’s this whole new dynamic in their relationship, because at the NSA they were able to talk about their days. But now with just him being in NSA, they can’t do that.

Here’s a sneak peek from the NCIS: NOLA episode “Chasing Ghosts”, featuring Christopher LaSalle (Lucas Black), Meredith Brody (Zoe McLellan), Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula) and Dr Loretta Wade (CCH Pounder). (You can also watch it on CBS.com, CBS Press Express and SpoilerTV.)

“Chasing Ghosts” marks the introduction of Bakula’s former Quantum Leap costar Dean Stockwell as Tom Hamilton, the father of Councilman Doug Hamilton (Steven Weber). The episode was directed by James Whitmore Jr, who also worked on Quantum Leap with Bakula and Stockwell. As Bakula told Zap2It, filming New Orleans gave the men time to reminisce:

We shot our scenes in the morning, then broke and went to lunch and talked for about an hour about old times … between the three of us there was a lot of history going on, lot of good memories. It was just one of those days that makes it all worthwhile, where there’s a magical thing going on that’s just about relationships and people that care about each other.

Making ‘Quantum Leap’ was hard, it was hard each season, because it was so ambitious, and you go through that experience with a group of people and you become closer. Dean and I were like brothers, it was so wonderful to see him.

Bakula also spoke to Zap2It about the episode’s storyline, which involves a 40-year-old cold case. Here’s a quote:

It’s a really interesting episode. It’s based on true events. Sadly, this group that in the ’60s and ’70s, people were being — well, we all know about the activities of the KKK. This particular episode is about a young Jewish petty officer who was enlisting young African-Americans into the Navy, and this group called the Brigade didn’t like that and he was harassed and was eventually hung. That’s based on true events that happened to people who weren’t the same as other people, back in those days.

The case has ties to the elder Hamilton, and as Executive Producer Jeffrey Lieber told Examiner.com, that could provide insight into his son:

We know about Douglas Hamilton. What is Tom Hamilton like?

Tom Hamilton is an old-school, Southern politician who rules by intimidation. In some ways, by realizing where Douglas came from, we’re hoping the audience will start to see Douglas in a more nuanced light.

“Chasing Ghosts” also finds the NCIS: NOLA team celebrating Thanksgiving together, and Pride’s daughter Laurel (Shanley Caswell) brings her boyfriend to dinner. “There’s some good father/daughter stuff going on,” Bakula told TV Guide. “She’s trying to coach [Pride] on how to not be such a nice guy because all of her boyfriends end up liking [him] as much or more than her. [The boyfriend] is also a chef, so there’s some competition. He wants to take over in the kitchen.”
