The ‘New York’ Team Tries To ‘Keep It Real’

3 min read

The second episode of CSI: New York’s eighth season will find the CSIs searching for a killer after a young man is shot in his apartment, and his roommate is nowhere to be found. (Major spoilers after the jump!)

According to CSI Files sources, “Keep It Real” opens in a club, where a beautiful young woman named Miranda (guest star Aly Michalka) is playing the guitar and singing on stage. She makes eye contact with Michael, one of the guys in the crowd. She singles him out as if they’re the only ones there. Michael is clearly falling for this woman—everybody in the club wants her, but she’s only interested in him. Michael’s roommate and best friend Josh walks up and hands him a drink. Josh is clearly trying to be cool, but he’s failing. He points out that Michael must be in love, and Michael wonders if it was all worth it.

Unfortunately, the happiness can’t last. Michael is shot to death in his apartment while Miranda is in the bedroom. She runs out of the bedroom and kneels beside Michael on the floor, getting blood all over herself, but she can’t save him. He tries to say something before he dies, but the words won’t come out.

The team speaks to Miranda, and she admits that she’s only known Michael for a few weeks. They met in the record store where she works. Michael and Josh were having a disagreement about music, and Miranda jumped into the conversation. She and Michael immediately hit it off, and Michael noticed her admiring an expensive guitar on the wall. He later bought it for her.

The team can’t locate Josh, so they don’t know if he’s a suspect or another potential victim. They find a jar of lotion used for people with new tattoos, and they know it belongs to Josh since Michael didn’t have any ink. If they figure out what kind of tattoo he has, they can use it to put out a description to help track him down. Flack speaks to the owner of the tattoo parlor, Chad, who admits that he remembers Josh—it would be hard to forget a guy who paid $1000 to get a giant dolphin tattoo on his back. While he got the tattoo done, Josh complained to Chad about his roommate’s new girlfriend and how she was ruining their friendship.

Things get more complicated when the team discovers that counterfeit money may be involved. Meanwhile, Jo gets together with her son Tyler (Cody Longo, “Identity Crisis”), and the pair has a chat about his new roommate. Also, Danny and Lindsay are still adjusting to Danny’s new job as Sergeant, which keeps him on the street and away from the lab.

Please note that the above plot details have not been confirmed by CBS, Alliance Atlantis or Bruckheimer Films, and until such time you should treat this information as you would any other rumour. The above information comes from early script drafts and the details of the episodes are liable to change before the episodes are shown.

“Keep It real” is expected to air September 30 on CBS.
