‘CSI:NY’ Shares The Top Spot At 10:00PM

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

The latest episode of CSI: New York won the hour in total viewers on Friday, February 4. Temporarily airing in the 10:00pm timeslot, “Party Down” pulled in 9.34 million viewers, which was down slightly from the previous episode. Despite the dip in viewers, these numbers were enough to put New York ahead of the second hour of Dateline (9.25 million) and A Barbara Walters Special: A Matter of Life and Death (6.20 million). In the key 18-49 demographic prized by advertisers, Dateline took the top spot with a 2.2 rating/7 share. CSI: NY followed with 1.9/6 (up slightly from the previous episode), and Life and Death came in third with 1.1/3.

Fox Convinced Petersen To Revisit ‘CSI’

Friday, February 4th, 2011

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’s former leading man William Petersen (Gil Grissom) filmed a brief guest spot for last night’s episode, “The Two Mrs Grissoms”, which marked his first appearance on the series in more than two years. It was the “perfect story” to feature Grissom, executive producer Carol Mendelsohn told TV Guide, and Petersen’s onscreen wife Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) convinced him to come back and film a scene. Grissom spoke to his wife and mother (played by Phyllis Frelich) over Skype, and the character suggested that the three of them should have dinner together soon. “We haven’t written the dinner scene yet,” Mendelsohn said, but she didn’t rule out the possibility of Petersen returning to do another guest appearance. “As long as there is a CSI, there will be a Gil Grissom.”
