Train Tops iTunes With ‘Hey, Soul Sister’

Monday, March 29th, 2010

After an appearance and performance by lead singer Pat Monahan in the CSI: New York episode “Second Chances”, Train‘s single “Hey, Soul Sister” started to make its way up the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song, which was originally released last August, has since appeared in Medium, commercials for Samsung 3D LED televisions, and promos for season two of the Showtime series Nurse Jackie. The song peaked at #6 on the Hot 100 chart, which is the band’s highest standing since the 2001 single “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)”, which made it to #5.

“Hey, Soul Sister” might make a Hot 100 resurgence now that it has taken the #1 spot on iTunes. The song beat out singles from Lady Gaga and teen sensation Justin Bieber. “Hey, Soul Sister” is currently ruling the iTunes Store Top 10 Songs for the United States, as well as Australia and the Netherlands.
