Fishburne Brings ‘Thurgood’ To DC

As CSI Files previously reported, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation‘s Laurence Fishburne (Dr Ray Langston) will reprise his role in the one-man theatre production of Thurgood next summer. The actor’s portrayal of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall previously earned him a Tony Award nomination. Because of his schedule, Fishburne will only be able to bring Thurgood to two cities next year: Los Angeles, California and Washington, DC.

As originally reported, Fishburne will perform at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles from June 27-August 8, 2010. Prior to these dates, the actor will take the stage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC from June 1-20, 2010.

Sinise And Giovinazzo Support American Heroes

The “Honor our Heroes” charity gala and dinner dance will take place Friday, September 18 in Staten Island, New York. The event is co-sponsored by the Rosebank Boys Association and Building Homes For Heroes, a group that helps wounded American soldiers by building or improving homes. One of the items up for auction at the event will be a day on the set of CSI: New York with stars Gary Sinise (Mac Taylor) and Carmine Giovinazzo (Danny Messer).

Asner Loses Emmy For ‘New York’ Role

The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sunday, September 20, but the academy gave out more than 70 Creative Arts Emmy Awards this past weekend. One of the four acting categories included in the Creative Arts ceremony was “Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series”. Ed Asner was nominated for his role as Abraham Klein in the CSI: New York episode “Yahrzeit”, but the award went to Michael J Fox for his role on Rescue Me.

The ceremony will be broadcast Friday, September 18 at 1:00pm ET/PT on E! Entertainment Television.

‘I Can Do Bad’ Wins At The Box Office

The new Tyler Perry film I Can Do Bad All By Myself, which stars CSI: Miami‘s Adam Rodriguez (Eric Delko), debuted in the top spot at the box office over the weekend by earning an estimated $24 million.
